We took the boys to see the fireworks on July 4th. Because I wasn't sure what Grant's reaction would be, we tried to prepare him by telling him that the fireworks are loud and go "boom, boom!" We found a good spot, parked, popped open the tailgate, and jumped in the back. We brought some snacks ("Eineins" for Grant - meaning, Little Einsteins fruit snacks) and drinks and just enjoyed the show. Grant did like the fireworks, but I think he liked the motorcycles driving by better. They easily distracted him from the colorful display in the sky. He kept saying, "oh bike!" Ben, of course, after having his evening bottle slept through the show and the Harleys driving by. I loved going to see the fireworks as a family and had a blast. Hopefully, it will become our own little tradition.
Ben has been waking up around 3:00 a.m. the last few nights. He doesn't appear to be hungry, just uncomfortable. So, I end up bringing him back to bed with me. While I love cuddling with him, sleeping with an infant is an entirely different matter. He seems to sleep comfortably snuggled up next to me, but I can barely move, terrified I'll wake him. This morning I woke up to him smiling at me, which absolutely is the best thing ever. I just laid there and talked to him for about ten minutes while he kicked his legs and cooed back at me. Pure bliss! Chris had him giggling yesterday evening. Grant was never as verbal as Ben at this age. It was so funny to hear such a little thing laughing so hard.
Heather bought Grant a frog towel, which he loves. His frog face (as seen below) is pretty hilarious. I put it on him last night after he got out of the tub and was able to snap a couple pics.
It's been a real wild kingdom around here lately. We have three groundhogs living out back on our hill (a momma and two babies which Grant calls "cats"), a bird's nest with two baby birds in our cherry tree out front, lots of birds that come to eat from the bird feeder on the hill daily, and today our new friend the squirrel came for a visit. We watched as the squirrel dangled from the roof of the birdhouse to get to the seed. Grant thought it was hilarious to watch him eat with his little hands. If you ask him how the squirrel eats he'll show you.
We had some family pictures taken a few weeks ago, along with Ben's first pictures. Here they are. Hop you like them!
Anyhoo, it's about 9:30 p.m. and I still have to go feed Ben, put him to bed, and settle in for the night. Better get at it. Later!

Hi, Jennifer,
We're keeping up with your blog as I know it's hard for you to answer individual emails these days. Loved the photos, the boys are so cute and you sound like a very contented mom...you go girl! Luv, Bonnie
